چکیده

Zeolites of MFI-type belong to the most important zeolite structures in catalysis and are used in many shape-selective processes in petroleum refining industry, in particular for the kinetic separation of alkane isomers. Practically all important applications involve mixtures. However, due to the experimental difficulty, the number of experimental studies of mixture adsorption and diffusion is rather small compared to single components. One of the main advances of the IR microscopy technique (IRM) is the ability to differentiate between different sorbates and to allow, in this way, studies of mixture diffusion. Motivated by the practical relevance, as model system we considered a mixture of a linear and mono-branched alkane in silicalite-1 (MFI-type), viz. n-butane (nC4) and iso-butane (iC4). The primary objective was to investigate the influence of “intersection blocking” effects [1] on mixture diffusion experimentally.

Optimization of the preparation procedure of Ni/Al2O3 catalyst for steam reforming of n-butane

Performance of Ni/Al2O3 catalysts (10 wt.% Ni) in steam reforming of n-butane was investigated in terms of n-butane conversion, selectivity to hydrogen and hydrogen yield. The process was carried out in a fixed-bed tubular reactor at 650 °C and atmospheric pressure. The volumetric flow rates of n-butane and steam were 0.1 mL/min and 0.6 mL/min, respectively. The catalysts were prepared by preci...

Effect of Fuel Type on Flame Ignition by Transient Plasma Discharges

Rise and delay times of mixtures of methane, propane, n-butane, iso-butane and isooctane mixed with air ignited by transient plasma discharge were investigated and compared with spark discharge ignition. Multi-ignition site effect and high electron energy are suggested to contribute to shortening of rise and delay times.

Molecular dynamics studies of straight-chain alkanes diffusion in SiO2 ceramic versus Bosanquet formula

Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations were applied to calculate self-diffusion coefficients (Di ) and heats of adsorption for ethane, propane and n-butane. The simulations were done in temperature range of 300-525 K for various concentrations inside the pores of silicalite type zeolite. The calculated values of self-diffusion coefficients and heats of adsorption resulted from the current wo...

Kinetics of adsorption of pure and mixtures of linear and branched C6 alkanes onto silicalite by non-equilibrium molecular dynamics

The separation of saturated branched and linear alkanes may be investigated by selective adsorption on microporous organophilic MFI type zeolite. From the literature, adsorption equilibria of mixtures show a favourable selectivity for less branched alkanes [1]. However the separation process is significantly influenced by the transport properties. The knowledge of the transport coefficients of ...

New Options for Measuring Molecular Diffusion in Zeolites by MAS PFG NMR

1. Introduction Combination of pulsed field gradient (PFG) NMR with magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR is demonstrated to have remarkable advantages in comparison with conventional PFG NMR, if applied to diffusion measurements in beds of nanoporous particles, notably zeolites. These advantages are based on the effect of line narrowing and concern (i) a prolongation of the intervals during which the...
